Privacy notice
ADAS Meldpunt is designed on the principle of privacy by design: we ask for as little personal data as possible, and you can also report anonymously. Your data is processed carefully and securely.
This is an English translation provided for convenience. The Dutch version of this privacy notice is legally leading; in the event of any discrepancy, the Dutch text prevails.
Data controller
Data controller: AIUTO B.V.
Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number: 24346004
E-mail: paul@aiuto.nl
What data do we process?
For each report, we store data about the driver assistance system, the problem category, the circumstances (weather, light, type of road, description of the location) and vehicle characteristics such as make, model, year of manufacture, drivetrain and, where available, the software version.
If you choose not to report anonymously, we additionally store your name (optional) and e-mail address, so that we can follow up with you about your report.
Registration number
We do not store the registration number itself in readable form. Your registration number is pseudonymised into a secured code. This allows us, for example, to recognise whether several reports relate to the same vehicle, without the original registration number being stored in our database.
Purpose of the processing
We process data for purposes including:
- registering reports of unexpected behaviour or faults in driver assistance systems;
- analysing patterns and recurring situations;
- research into the functioning, use and real-world experience of ADAS;
- producing aggregated analyses, reports and statistics;
- contacting the reporter, where an e-mail address has been provided for that purpose;
- sharing aggregated insights with, for example, researchers, public authorities, road authorities, vehicle manufacturers, importers or other relevant organisations.
Reports that include an e-mail address are included in analyses as normal. Names and e-mail addresses are not published in public analyses or reports, and contact details are not shared with third parties unless necessary. Personal data is not sold and is not used for advertising.
Legal basis (GDPR)
- Reports and analysis: your consent, given when submitting the report (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You may withdraw your consent at any time; this does not affect the processing carried out before withdrawal.
- Contact about your report: your consent, by providing your own name and e-mail address (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR).
- Technical and security data: our legitimate interest in a safe and well-functioning website and in preventing misuse (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Retention periods
- Report content (system, circumstances, vehicle characteristics): retained for long-term analysis, for as long as it remains relevant for research into driver assistance systems.
- Contact details: no longer than necessary for handling and following up on your report. After that, the name and e-mail address are deleted; the content of the report remains available for analysis.
- Technical and log data: only for as long as necessary for security and for resolving faults.
Data is transmitted in encrypted form and is accessible only to authorised administrators.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, where applicable, you may have the right to:
- access your data;
- correct inaccurate data;
- have your data erased;
- restrict the processing;
- object to the processing;
- have your data transferred (data portability).
You can also ask us to anonymise your report: we will then delete your name, e-mail address and pseudonymised registration-number code, while the report content is retained for statistical purposes. Please contact us for this at paul@aiuto.nl. For anonymous reports we cannot provide access or erasure, because the report cannot be linked to you.
Do you disagree with how we handle your data? You can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
Independence
ADAS Meldpunt is independent of manufacturers, importers, garages and insurers. No payment is made for including, amending or removing reports.
